Building Climate Resilience in the North West Province
The North West Climate Change Strategy and Implementation Plan (NW CCSIP) is the province’s guiding framework for building climate resilience and sustainable development. Led by the Department of Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism (DEDECT) in collaboration with the North-West University (NWU), the plan responds to the requirements of the Climate Change Act (2024) and aligns with national and international climate commitments.
The CCSIP sets out practical measures to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions, strengthen adaptive capacity, and support a just and inclusive transition for communities and industries across the province. It focuses on integrating climate considerations into provincial and municipal planning, ensuring that climate action is embedded in everyday decision-making.
This website serves as a central point for stakeholders and the public to learn about the process, stay informed on key milestones, register as an interested or affected party, and submit feedback during the consultation period.
Through collaboration and transparency, the North West CCSIP aims to create a shared pathway toward a climate-resilient, low-carbon, and equitable future for the province.
